Nvidia in talks with OpenAI to guarantee $250 billion data center financing

technology artificial intelligence

Nvidia is reportedly in discussions to provide a guarantee of approximately 250 billion dollars to support OpenAI. This financial backstop would enable the maker of ChatGPT to fund a massive new data center project.

The arrangement would allow OpenAI to secure financing without the investment-grade credit rating typically required for such borrowing. This move would serve as a first step for OpenAI toward controlling its own infrastructure instead of renting it.

The project would be one of the largest AI computing hubs and would involve power controlled by the U.S. government.

While these discussions have been reported, neither Nvidia nor OpenAI has confirmed the arrangement.
