Alexandra Eala has become the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA Tour-level singles title by winning the Washington Open. The Filipina victory follows a period of significant expectation and support since she joined the elite women's circuit.

Eala captured the title after rallying past top seed Jessica Pegula in a final that was delayed by rain. The match took place over two days and was completed on Monday.

Taylor Fritz also found success at the Washington Open, claiming his first trophy of the season. Fritz earned the victory by defeating teen Rafael Jodar.
