Thousands of people have taken to the streets across France to demand better school funding and investments in deteriorating public services. These demonstrations have exposed deep tensions between popular demands and a cash-strapped government.

In northeastern Paris, students gathered on Thursday to protest outside a high school, where police responded by using tear gas.

The unrest has led to the arrest of thousands of young people. Dozens of people have been injured in the clashes, including students, teachers, and police officers, with at least 215 teenagers and 85 school staff among those wounded.

Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has denied that there has been any police repression during the protests.
