Militants with the Islamic State group attacked a village overnight in northeastern Nigeria, killing at least 29 people. The state governor confirmed the casualties on Monday following the assault in Adamawa state.
The attack targeted Guyaku village and lasted for hours. Officials stated that gunmen carried out the overnight raid on the community.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on Telegram. The ISIL affiliate in the region has claimed ownership of the assault.
