Overcrowded bus plunges into Pakistan ravine, killing at least 40, injuring 8

Forty people were killed and eight others injured on Friday after an overcrowded passenger bus plunged from a highway into a rocky ravine in Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan. Officials described the incident as one of the deadliest road accidents in recent years.

The bus was traveling from the provincial capital of Quetta to the national capital, Islamabad, with 48 passengers on board. The vehicle lost control and veered off a mountain road near the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, falling into a deep roadside ditch.

Authorities stated that the overcrowded bus was likely speeding when it veered off the road.
