Bulgaria summons Russian ambassador after drones hit Black Sea ships, one sank

Two cargo ships were hit by drones overnight in the immediate vicinity of Bulgaria's Black Sea coast. Prime Minister Rumen Radev reported that one of the vessels sank, prompting emergency rescue operations. This marks the second such incident in a week.

Among the vessels targeted was the Ukrainian-owned Chelsea 3, which sustained damage. No further information was provided regarding the origins of the ships or the cargo they were carrying.

Bulgaria will summon Russia's ambassador to Sofia following the attacks. Prime Minister Radev stated that all logic suggests the outcome works to the advantage of the Russian Federation, accusing Russia of repeatedly targeting civilian cargo ships in the area. EU chief Ursula von der Leyen also condemned the attacks.
