Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has shown little sign of abating, with both sides accusing the other of violating a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that went into effect on April 17. Hezbollah has continued to attack Israeli troops and launched rockets and drones into northern Israel, although these attacks did not inflict any casualties.
Recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon have killed at least five people. These include three drone strikes on vehicles south of Beirut that killed four people, as well as a strike in the city of Nabatieh that killed a Syrian national. These raids occurred after the Israeli army issued evacuation warnings to residents of six villages in Tyre province, including Toura.
The escalation in violence comes ahead of a new round of talks expected to take place next week in Washington, DC. Despite the brokered truce, there has been no letup in the attacks as both parties continue to engage in hostilities.
