Ukrainian drones hit St Petersburg energy sites, Russian attacks kill at least 8

armed conflict defense & military

In one of its largest aerial bombardments to date, Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones across Russia. The attack targeted oil facilities, logistics, and data centres in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad region, setting an oil export terminal, refinery, and depot ablaze. Local authorities reported that one person was killed and 15 others were injured.

Simultaneously, Russian forces pressed their campaign against Ukraine's power grid, striking the energy sector in four regions, including Kharkiv, Kramatorsk, Volyn, and Rivne. President Zelenskyy stated that these overnight strikes on residential buildings killed two people and injured 12 others.

Kyiv has accused Moscow of violating Washington's energy ceasefire dozens of times as Russia continues its attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
