Premier League champions Arsenal have signed 24-year-old Greek forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge for £34 million. The transfer, announced on Thursday, includes a five-year contract and represents the club's third permanent signing of the summer, joining arrivals Hincapié and Meslier.
Tzolis arrives at the Emirates Stadium as a replacement for Leandro Trossard following Trossard's switch to Besiktas. This move follows a failed attempt by the north Londoners to secure Morgan Rogers, who instead signed with Chelsea for a British-record fee of £117 million.
Primarily a left winger, Tzolis recorded 43 goals and 45 assists across two seasons with the Belgian champions and has earned 34 caps for Greece. He also possesses prior Premier League experience from his time with Norwich.
Sporting director Andrea Berta described Tzolis as an extremely versatile attacking player who is comfortable across the front line, noting his technical ability and proficiency as a finisher with both feet. Tzolis called the move to the champions of England amazing, adding that he is hungry to score or provide the final pass.
