Pakistan is attempting to mediate a resolution to the Middle East war between Iran and the United States. Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir recently concluded a one-day visit to Tehran as part of Islamabad's efforts to ease tensions and resurrect talks between the two nations.
During the meeting, Pakistani and Iranian officials focused on measures to prevent further escalation and expedite an end to the conflict. A primary point of discussion included the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistani mediators have cited progress following these talks.
However, tensions persist as the United States promises the greatest financial offensive ever against Iran. Iran has responded by stating it will retaliate to new US economic D-day sanctions.
