Attackers firebombed three residential buildings linked to Greece's governing New Democracy party in the northern city of Thessaloniki before dawn on Wednesday. The assailants used gas canisters set on fire, targeting buildings that housed party figures or were owned by a local politician.

Five people were wounded in the attacks, including a candidate for parliament and her parents, who suffered burns. While the first two blasts caused only material damage, the third resulted in the injuries and damaged two cars and two motorcycles.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed outrage and anger, describing the incident as a cowardly, terrorist, and murderous attack. Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis also condemned the violence, stating that the government is determined to crack down on such acts.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks. Greece has a decades-long history of bomb and arson attacks on politicians, and leftist and anarchist groups often use improvised explosives to target political figures.
