Japan and Sweden played to a 1-1 draw in the World Cup, with goals from Daizen Maeda and Anthony Elanga. Maeda gave Japan the lead, but Elanga took it away six minutes later.
The result sent both teams through to the Round of 32. Japan secured second place in Group F, while Sweden finished third with four points, enough to secure one of the eight available slots for the next phase.
Japan will now face five-time champions Brazil in the round of 32. The match will take place on Monday in Houston.
