Pentagon adds Alibaba, Baidu, BYD and Unitree to Chinese military list

The Pentagon has added several prominent Chinese businesses to its list of entities identified as supporting the Chinese military. The updated 1260H list now names 188 companies operating in the United States that the Department of Defense says contribute to China’s military-civil fusion strategy.

Among the entities identified are some of China's largest companies and AI champions, including Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., Baidu Inc., BYD Co., Tencent Holdings, and the robotics company Unitree.

Being on this list prevents the companies from receiving U.S. defense contracts. The move risks provoking new friction with the government in Beijing. This follows an incident four months ago when the Trump administration released an updated version of the list and then quickly pulled it without explanation.
