King Charles III has confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will remain non-working members of the British royal family following their return to the United Kingdom. In a letter authorized by the King and sent to senior British officials on Monday, it was stated that the couple will not be considered working members.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex originally stepped down as senior working members of the royal family in January 2020. According to the letter, this position will continue to be fully respected.
The couple arrived back in Britain from the United States in late August, six years after quitting royal duties and moving to California. Their surprise decision to return comes amid continuing uncertainty regarding their security arrangements and whether the state will fund any protection.
