France's interior ministry has ordered Russian journalist Xenia Fedorova to leave the country. The order comes amid accusations that she spread Kremlin propaganda through French television and radio ahead of next year's presidential election.
The deportation order accuses Fedorova of acting as a conduit for disinformation campaigns orchestrated by Russian authorities with the aim of destabilizing public order. Disinformation experts have also raised alarms about her as France heads into a 2027 presidential election.
Tensions between Fedorova and the French government date back to 2017, when President Emmanuel Macron accused her of spreading defamatory falsehoods. During that period, Macron implied that Fedorova was not a journalist, and he stated in June that his opinion of her remained unchanged.
