The Boston Celtics have traded 2024 NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown to division rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers. In exchange, Boston receives Paul George along with a significant amount of draft capital.
The deal includes two first-round picks from 2028 and 2031, as well as two second-round selections. The trade comes after a period of uncertainty regarding Brown's future with Boston, following reports that he was the primary piece in a failed attempt to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Brown leaves Boston after a 10-season run characterized by five All-Star appearances. During this span, he played in more wins across regular season and playoff games than any other player in the league.
This move is part of a series of blockbuster offseason trades across the NBA. Other major shifts include Giannis Antetokounmpo moving from Milwaukee to Miami, a swap between the Toronto Raptors and Los Angeles Clippers involving Kawhi Leonard and Brandon Ingram, and Ja Morant being traded from Memphis to Portland.
