Anthropic announced on Tuesday that the U.S. Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on its Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models. The company stated it will begin restoring global access to these advanced models tomorrow.
The decision marks a reversal after the Trump administration ordered the company to suspend access for foreign nationals earlier this month over national security risks. The restrictions were lifted after Anthropic worked with Washington to strengthen safeguards around the technology, resolving a weekslong dispute.
The move allows the company to bring its most powerful technologies back online and de-escalates a feud with the administration. This comes as Washington's vetting of which companies can gain access to these models has drawn criticism.
