Spain is battling multiple large wildfires across the country, with significant blazes currently raging in the central and northern regions. Fires in Zaragoza and Guadalajara remain out of control, leaving hundreds of people evacuated as crews struggle to contain the flames.
In central Spain, a fire in the Guadalajara province that started on July 16 has burned more than 12,000 hectares. The La Mierla wildfire has scorched nearly 9,900 hectares and forced the evacuation of 16 villages. More than 25 firefighting planes have been deployed to combat the blaze, which has been raging for three days, although no casualties have been reported so far.
Firefighters are also continuing to battle a blaze in the northern province of Zaragoza. In northeastern Spain, 15,400 hectares have burned near Orés. These incidents follow one of the country's deadliest wildfires earlier this month in the south, bringing Spain's total wildfire toll for the year to around 50,000 hectares.
