Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Masino steps down after controversial logo redesign

business leadership changes

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. has named David Deno as its new chief executive officer, replacing Julie Masino effective Aug. 10. Deno most recently served as the CEO of Bloomin' Brands.

Masino is stepping down following significant customer and online backlash over the company's efforts to shed its old-timey image. This included a modern logo redesign and plans for a simplified logo announced last year.

The rebranding attempt led to plummeting sales, forcing the company to quickly reverse the planned changes after many protested. Masino had recently fought to help the brand recover from the political backlash over its 2025 rebranding.

While Deno takes over the leadership role in August, Masino will remain with Cracker Barrel in an advisory capacity until Oct. 9.
