The U.S. House Ethics Committee announced Monday that it is investigating Rep. Jimmy Gomez over allegations of sexual misconduct. According to the committee, the allegations include engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with a House staffer.
The California Democrat admitted that he had made personal mistakes outside of his marriage.
However, Gomez stated that his actions were consensual in nature and did not violate the law or House Ethics rules. He added that he will cooperate with the investigation.
