President Donald Trump has withdrawn the nomination of wellness entrepreneur Casey Means for US surgeon general and announced Dr. Nicole Saphier as the replacement. Dr. Saphier, a radiologist and former Fox News contributor, marks the president's third pick for the position.

The nomination of Dr. Means stalled in the Senate amid concerns over her experience and credentials. Republican lawmakers raised questions regarding her controversial stances on vaccines, birth control, pesticides, and psychedelics.

President Trump blamed Republican Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana for the stalled nomination and slammed the senator for his opposition. Trump stated that Dr. Means will instead continue to fight for the Make America Healthy Again movement spearheaded by health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
