Several wounded in school attack in Bavaria, Germany; suspect arrested

Several people have been injured following a reported attack at a high school in the southern German town of Schongau. The town, which has some 12,000 inhabitants and is located just north of the Alps, was the site of the incident where a teenage suspect was arrested.

Authorities report that two girls were seriously and badly hurt during the attack. Police have advised people to avoid the area following the incident.

Serious violence at schools is rare in Germany, although authorities note that it is not unknown.
