international relations armed conflict defense & military

Iran-aligned Houthi rebels launched missiles targeting key transport hubs, including two airports in Saudi Arabia and the international airport in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden. In Saudi Arabia, a ballistic missile was fired at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. In Aden, one missile hit the airport's runway just minutes before a flight from Cairo was scheduled to land.

The attacks in Saudi Arabia resulted in three deaths and left dozens injured. The deceased include a Sudanese national killed in Riyadh, as well as Moroccan and Algerian women killed in Abha. No casualties were reported following the strikes on the Aden airport.

In response, the Saudi-led coalition announced it has destroyed 82 Houthi military targets. These deadly strikes intensify the conflict between the kingdom and its Iran-backed opponents, pulling Saudi Arabia deeper into a war involving Iran.
