LeBron James, a four-time NBA champion and the league's all-time leading scorer, has told the Los Angeles Lakers he plans to play for another team next season. Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, stated that James informed the franchise they can move on without him.
The 41-year-old will not return for a ninth season with the storied franchise. James intends to play for a different team during the 2026-27 season.
James played eight seasons with the Lakers, where he led the franchise to its 17th NBA championship in the 2019-2020 season.
