A federal jury in Los Angeles has acquitted Grammy Award-winning Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Banks, of all charges in a murder-for-hire scheme. The verdict, delivered Friday, found the musician not guilty of attempted murder for hire of rival rapper Quando Rondo.
Prosecutors had accused Banks of orchestrating a plot to kill a rival in an ambush and putting a bounty on the life of Atlanta rapper Tayquian Bowman. These actions were allegedly taken in retaliation for the 2020 shooting death of Banks's friend and fellow Chicago rap star King Von.
The case involved a 2022 incident in which a man was fatally gunned down. Banks was arrested in 2024 and accused of involvement in a shooting that killed the cousin of Quando Rondo.
High-profile figures, including Machine Gun Kelly and Ye, previously known as Kanye West, attended the trial.
