Police in northeastern Spain have arrested Jonathan Andic, the eldest son of billionaire Isak Andic, founder of the fashion brand Mango, for allegedly playing a role in his father's death. Jonathan Andic, 45, who serves as the vice chairman of the board at Mango, was taken to court facilities in Martorell. He was released on Tuesday after posting one million euros' bail, and a Barcelona court has named him as a suspect in the inquiry.
Isak Andic, 71, died on December 14, 2024, after falling between 100 and 150 meters down a cliff or ravine while hiking in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona. Jonathan Andic was the only witness to the fall.
The investigation into the death was closed a few weeks after the incident but was reopened in March 2025. In October, police confirmed the death was being investigated as a possible homicide. The case is currently subject to a nondisclosure order. A spokesperson for the family stated that Jonathan Andic was being questioned, noting that the family had previously expressed confidence in his innocence.
Isak Andic moved from Turkey to Spain as a youth and opened Mango's first store in Barcelona in 1984, developing the company into one of Europe's leading fast fashion makers. Mango currently operates 2,900 stores across 120 markets. The group's revenue reached a record high of nearly 3.8 billion euros in 2025, marking an 11 percent increase from the previous year.
