Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Belfast on Saturday to denounce anti-immigrant rioters. The anti-racism rally follows two nights of violence in Northern Ireland where crowds exploited a knife attack to inflict terror on ethnic minority communities.

The disorder erupted Tuesday after a video of a knife attack from the night of June 8 went viral online Monday evening. The incident involved a stabbing that left a man partly blind, and a 30-year-old Sudanese refugee has been charged with attempted murder.

During the two nights of violence, groups targeted individuals because of their skin color, according to authorities. Rioters set fire to houses and cars while targeting ethnic minorities in the Northern Irish capital.
