Australian police have shot and killed a fugitive gunman following a seven-month manhunt. The suspect, identified as Desmond Freeman, had been on the run since August after allegedly fatally shooting two police officers and seriously wounding a third in Victoria.
Freeman, described as a ‘sovereign citizen’ and trained in bush survival, evaded capture despite a large-scale search involving hundreds of officers. The initial confrontation occurred during an attempt to execute a search warrant in a remote forest region.
The fugitive was pursued for months before being located and fatally shot by police on Monday. Authorities believe Freeman is responsible for the deaths of the two officers from the August incident.
