Ferrari unveils Luce, its first fully electric car

Ferrari NV has unveiled its first fully electric model, named Luce, after the Italian word for light. Unveiled on Monday, the five-seat vehicle is priced at €550,000 ($640,000), marking a sharp break from the sports-car maker’s fuel-burning heritage.

As rivals slow their shift to electric cars, Ferrari is betting that the Luce can still deliver the design, emotion, and performance that have long defined the Prancing Horse. The model will test the appetite of the superrich at a time when electric vehicles have fallen out of favor in the U.S.

The launch comes amid wider worries about the luxury EV market and intense pressure from Chinese EV makers. Since its unveiling, the new Luce model has divided opinion on social media.
