Donald Trump filed a lawsuit in December seeking $10 billion in damages from the BBC, accusing the broadcaster of defamation and deceptive and unfair trade practices.

The allegations center on the way a 2024 documentary edited a speech Trump gave on January 6, 2021, before protesters attacked the Capitol in Washington.

The BBC has asked a Florida court to compel three of President Trump's family members to testify over the January 6 attack after failing to deliver subpoenas itself. The broadcaster is seeking court help to obtain documents and testimony from the family in connection with the lawsuit.

Trump's legal team claims the BBC is abusing the deposition process as the broadcaster fights the $10 billion lawsuit.
