Hungarian prosecutors raided offices housing data servers used by the opposition Fidesz party on Tuesday. According to a statement from the party, investigators arrived unannounced to seize the party's communications system, database, and email servers.
The action targets the party of former Prime Minister Viktor Orban. A spokesperson for the former prime minister confirmed that prosecution investigators seized the communication and email servers.
The raid occurs as Prime Minister Peter Magyar's government moves to dismantle the former leader's lingering influence. This follows Magyar's landslide election victory over Orban in April, as the current prime minister presses ahead with anti-corruption reforms.
