Samsung Electronics Co. reported preliminary third-quarter earnings on Thursday, with operating profit forecast to top 100 trillion won for the first time. The company anticipates a stunning 107.4 trillion won, approximately $80.17 billion, marking a nearly nine-fold jump in earnings.

This growth is driven by booming demand for AI chips and strong memory sales. Samsung remains a key beneficiary of global demand for advanced chips, surging memory chip prices, and relentless spending on AI infrastructure. The tech giant is also expected to get a boost from its latest folding devices that were launched in August.

The preliminary estimate is more than twice what Samsung made for the whole of 2025. While the record profit was just shy of sky-high expectations, the forecast marks Samsung’s fourth straight quarter of record operating profit and a world record for the technology industry.
