Donald Trump’s media company announced Thursday that it is planning to charge for special high-speed access to posts from Truth Social's most influential and highest-ranking accounts. This service, referred to as Truth API and Truth PSI, is designed to provide financial institutions and professional traders with real-time feeds delivered in milliseconds.
The move would allow Wall Street trading firms and other institutions to gain a competitive edge by seeing news from top contributors, including potentially Donald Trump's own market-moving posts. This access could enable these firms to profit from subsequent fluctuations in stocks, bonds, and interest rates.
Critics have denounced the plan, describing it as corrupt profiteering off the presidency. The initiative is seen as a way for Trump to monetize another aspect of the presidency through the social media platform he partly owns, raising concerns regarding its effect on national security and financial markets.
