Judge extends Paramount-Warner Bros deal pause through August 17

business mergers & acquisitions legal proceedings

A federal judge has extended the pause on Paramount Skydance Corp.'s $110 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. through August 17. The ruling, delivered on Thursday, blocks the companies from closing the acquisition until mid-August.

The court's decision comes as the judge considers two lawsuits challenging the deal. The pause is part of a series of multiple challenges currently overseeing the takeover process.

In response, Paramount has requested a three-day hearing in August. During this hearing, the company intends to prove that the acquisition will bolster competition.
