Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has explicitly rejected the 15-point peace plan for Gaza proposed by President Donald Trump's Board of Peace. Despite Trump claiming a breakthrough and calling the proposal a historic agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other groups in Gaza, Netanyahu stated that Israel does not accept the document.
During a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military will not carry out any withdrawal from Gaza until Hamas is truly and fully disarmed. This stance effectively scraps the ceasefire plan, which aimed for an Israeli withdrawal alongside Hamas giving up its weapons.
The Prime Minister is currently caught between President Trump, who wants progress toward ending the conflict, and far-right ministers who are angered by concessions in Gaza. This decision follows more than a week of gradually escalating criticism of the US-led plan from Netanyahu's right-wing base.
Meanwhile, Hamas has insisted that Israel must halt attacks before it begins implementing its part of the agreement and has urged pressure on Israel. Israel maintains that it did not agree to the latest part of the deal, contradicting claims that both parties had reached an agreement.
