A technical glitch at the UK's second largest air traffic control center on Scotland's west coast has caused widespread disruption to flights across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England. The issue resulted in delays and cancellations for hundreds of flights, affecting airlines including British Airways and easyJet.
Airports in Manchester, Glasgow, and Belfast experienced delays, while London's Gatwick and City Airports also reported disruption. The air traffic control issue has since been resolved.
This incident marks the second technical issue in a fortnight, following a widespread glitch that caused chaos across the country's airports weeks earlier. While National Air Traffic Services stated that this latest disruption was unrelated to the previous issue, budget carrier Ryanair has called for NATS CEO Martin Rolfe to resign following the impact across the UK and Ireland.
