Judge dismisses Jan. 6 Proud Boys case after Trump order

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly on Friday dismissed the convictions of four members of the far-right Proud Boys group for their actions in the January 6 Capitol riot. The judge dismissed seditious conspiracy charges against Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, Dominic Pezzola, and Joseph Biggs.

The judge who presided over the leaders' trial saw no basis to preserve the convictions following a sweeping act of clemency issued by President Donald Trump last year.

These convictions were among the last remaining cases to stand after the sweeping pardons of January 2025. The move is the latest instance of the Trump administration seeking to unravel prosecutions against January 6 rioters.
