The Trump administration is removing hundreds of thousands of enrollees from Obamacare plans, alleging they were improperly enrolled. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services reported that it has canceled about 315,000 enrollments in the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace. In addition to those cancellations, officials are working to verify the eligibility of roughly 419,000 additional enrollees.
Vice President JD Vance's White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud estimates the action will save the government approximately $2.2 billion in taxpayer-funded subsidies. This measure is part of a broader administration crackdown on suspected fraud, which includes plans to impose stricter eligibility requirements for ACA subsidies.
