Justin Fairfax, former lieutenant governor of Virginia, and his wife, Cerina Fairfax, were found dead at their Annandale home early Thursday morning. Police responded to a 911 call made by the couple’s teenage children shortly after midnight.
Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis confirmed the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, occurring amidst an “ongoing domestic dispute” related to a complicated divorce. Police had previously responded to the home in January following a report by Justin Fairfax alleging assault by his wife, but a review of home security footage disproved the claim.
The former lieutenant governor was previously accused of sexual assault by two women in 2019, allegations that impacted his political career. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
