U.K. pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca is considering a deal to merge with its U.S. rival Bristol Myers Squibb. The two drugmakers have held discussions about a deal that would combine them into a single company.
AstraZeneca has explored an acquisition of Bristol Myers Squibb in a megadeal that would create one of the world's largest drugmakers. Such a move could create one of the world's biggest pharmaceutical groups with a combined value of nearly US$400 billion.
Bristol Myers Squibb, which has a $133 billion market capitalization, could provide AstraZeneca with a bigger foothold in the US market.
