Hurricane Trudy has strengthened to a category 2 hurricane as it moves toward Mexico's southwestern and west-central Pacific coast. The storm is bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the region.

The US National Hurricane Center reports that Trudy has maximum sustained winds of 100mph and is moving northwest at 10mph. While the storm maintained its strength on Saturday, forecasters warn it could continue growing through the day before beginning to weaken on Sunday.

A hurricane warning is in effect from Manzanillo in Colima state to Cabo Corrientes in Jalisco. Recent data places the hurricane approximately 205 miles south-southeast of Cabo Corrientes and 115 miles south-southwest of Manzanillo.

Trudy is the latest in a series of successive storms that have hit Mexico's Pacific coast this year.
