Kylian Mbappé has ended his 20-year partnership with Nike to sign a boot deal with Swiss sportswear brand On. The Real Madrid forward, who served as one of Nike's leading global ambassadors, has also become a shareholder in the company.

The signing marks On's first agreement with a soccer player and signals a major move into the football market. The brand, which has previously focused on tennis and running, is set to launch its first football boots next year.

As part of its expansion, On has appointed Thierry Henry, the former France and Arsenal star, as its football director. Mbappé described the partnership as the beginning of a shared dream.

The departure of the French captain is seen as a blow to Nike as newer rivals continue to gain ground in the athletic footwear market.
