Aston Villa secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Freiburg in the Europa League final in Istanbul. The English side controlled the match from start to finish to lift the trophy for the first time.
While Freiburg showed resistance in spells, they were ultimately overwhelmed by Villa’s intensity and tempo. This dominant performance allowed Villa to cruise to victory on Wednesday night.
The win marks Aston Villa's first major trophy in 30 years, ending a drought since they lifted the English League Cup in 1996. It is also their first continental trophy in 44 years, with their previous European title dating back to 1982.
Manager Unai Emery claimed the fifth Europa League title of his career with this victory. Emery previously earned triumphs in the competition with Sevilla and Villarreal.
