Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday morning for sexually assaulting former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley. The assault occurred at his Manhattan apartment in 2006.
The sentencing follows a retrial last year after his initial 2020 conviction was overturned. The legal odyssey has spanned more than six years since he was first convicted and sentenced.
Once a Hollywood kingpin powerful enough to make or break projects and careers, Weinstein is currently jailed in New York. His first sentencing was attended by reporters, advocates and the public as part of his #MeToo reckoning.
