Trump blames vandals for dead grass where he held July 4 celebration

President Donald Trump has repeatedly blamed vandals for damage to his renovation projects in the nation's capital. These accusations have often been made without evidence and, in some instances, despite opposing accounts from his own officials.

Among these claims, the President attributed large swaths of dead grass on the National Mall near the World War II Memorial to vandalism. Trump also asserted that the Reflecting Pool had been vandalized, a statement that appeared to be a jab at Jeanine Pirro.

Similar damage to the grass was reported at the White House Ellipse and South Lawn following the UFC Freedom 250 events this summer.
