Ireland's national broadcaster, RTÉ, announced on Thursday that the country will not participate in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest. This marks the second consecutive year that Ireland will boycott the event.
RTÉ stated that Ireland's participation cannot be justified given the appalling and ongoing loss of lives in Gaza. The decision to boycott is a protest against Israel's participation in the pan-continental music contest.
Ireland will not send an act to the 2027 competition in Bulgaria, nor will it broadcast the show. This follows a previous boycott where Ireland was one of five countries, including Iceland, the Netherlands, Spain, and Slovenia, that refused to take part to protest Israel's inclusion.
