Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has announced that Egypt is ready to take any measures necessary to defend Saudi Arabia if requested. This pledge comes amid escalating Houthi attacks on the kingdom, prompting the president to call for an emergency session of parliament on Sunday to authorize such action if it becomes necessary.

President al-Sisi specified that any military assistance provided to the kingdom would be defensive. The Egyptian presidency stated that Egypt will provide support to defend Saudi Arabia's security and protect its resources, reflecting the historically close relationship and strategic economic ties between the two nations.

The announcement follows sustained Houthi missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi oil installations, tankers, and transit hubs. In recent activity, forces intercepted and destroyed four drones over Riyadh, the southern region, and the Eastern Province.
