The 23rd edition of the men’s World Cup has finally arrived after years of preparation. The largest World Cup in tournament history begins in Mexico City, where the opening ceremony is currently underway.

Co-hosts Mexico will take on South Africa in the opening match at the iconic Estadio Azteca. The venue will become the first stadium in history to host three World Cup opening matches and the first venue to host matches at three separate World Cups.

The match marks the start of 39 days of action across three countries.
