Kering Aims to Revive Gucci, Boost Profits with New Strategy

Luca de Meo, CEO of Kering SA, has outlined a plan to boost profitability and revitalize the company’s flagship brand, Gucci. Since taking leadership in September, de Meo has focused on strengthening Kering’s financial position and restructuring the organization.

The strategy, dubbed “ReconKering,” aims to more than double the group’s 2025 recurring operating margin of 11.1%. This follows a capital markets day where Kering pledged significant margin growth, though the target was already anticipated by investors.

De Meo emphasized the need for Gucci to rebuild its presence in China, addressing past complacency with store locations and retail experiences. The overall plan focuses on restoring financial discipline, improving operational efficiency, and refreshing creative direction and product lineups.

The CEO seeks to reassure investors amid global economic uncertainty and conflict, aiming for bolder strategies to improve performance and appeal.
