Two arrested after 'power of love' proposal atop Empire State Building antenna

crime & law

Two masked individuals dressed in black climbed to the antenna of the Empire State Building in Manhattan on Wednesday. The pair reached the pinnacle of the skyscraper, ascending above the level permitted for the general public.

Once at the top, the duo unfurled a large black banner reading, “When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.” Following the display, the pair appeared to stage a daredevil marriage proposal. News footage showed the couple kissing before one person knelt and the other appeared to display a ring.

The individuals were seen embracing and taking selfies before beginning their descent and being arrested. The incident has left office workers wondering how the pair managed to bypass security screening, which typically prohibits masks, costumes, sports equipment, and large packages.
